Veteran finds financial support

Gordan* spent 37 years in the Merchant Marines. He came back to the Peninsula a year ago with a diagnosis of M.S. He is now in a wheelchair, unable to work, and is losing his speech and vision.

After making the rounds of the local churches, Mr. Williams was referred by one church to THRIVE Peninsula.  THRIVE has helped him financially with his utility bills and with food from the food pantry waiting for his Social Security disability payments to begin.  Mr. Williams was particularly gratified that THRIVE gave him meat at a time he had been relying on canned and dried food.

Mr. Williams says that the staff and volunteers at THRIVE were very helpful, and he is appreciative of the support he has been given to help him over this rough time in his life.
