In the last 20 years, CROP Hunger Walks have raised more than $294 million to help people struggling to feed their families—both around the world and around the corner. In fact, 25% of the funds raised by CROP Hunger Walks benefit the communities where they take place.
This year, your support will bless THRIVE Peninsula and the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula in their missions to fight hunger and malnutrition locally. AND—to multiply the global, local and environmental impact, we are going the extra mile this year by collecting and bringing to the 10/18 race all kinds/sizes of new and gently used shoes! Click here for the shoe collection invitation from local CROP Chair LeRoy Griffin.
Churches, organizations and individuals interested in walking may register online at http://bit.ly/1mNYDTF to acquire Walk materials and/or by calling THRIVE 757-877-6211, ext. “5.” Even if you don’t walk, you can help by collecting tax-deductible sponsorships (checks payable to CWS/CROP) or creating or joining an online team.
Hungry people in developing countries typically walk as many as six miles a day to get food, water and fuel, and to take their goods to market. We walk to be in solidarity with their struggle for existence. We walk because we want to end hunger—one step at a time!
